What is Yoga Therapy?

—> An integrative mind-body approach; an alternative to talking therapy that invites an active inquiry into how present and past life circumstances and events leave an imprint on our bodies and our nervous systems.

—> A view of our mental and physical health and wellbeing from a holistic and interconnected lens.

—> A process of learning to recognise and understand the embodied responses of our nervous system in relationship with stress, adversity, or trauma.

—> A space to explore your historical relationship with your body and learn ways to connect with the landscape and language of the body.

—> A practice of tending to yourself, reclaiming agency, grounding and establishing safety in the body, self-regulating, and increasing your capacity and resilience to process and integrate adversity and trauma that has impacted your health and wellbeing.

—> Yoga Therapy is a trauma-informed therapeutic approach through the lens of yoga.

This is a process of learning the language of the body; learning how to listen to the body in order to understand more about life’s imprints and our embodied responses.

It is an opportunity to come into connection with the innate somatic intelligence of the body and learn a new way of being in relationship with ourself that better supports our health and wellbeing.

“Marie is a very gentle, intuitive and knowledgeable practitioner.”

What are the benefits of Yoga Therapy?

As a somatic (body-based) therapist, I am here to support you on your own journey of embodiment, empowerment and healing.

I am here to guide you to understand the language of your body and help you feel more able to self-regulate in response to what challenges you and disrupts your capacity to experience health, happiness and safety.

This work aims to improve your overall health and wellbeing and can help to eliminate symptoms of a dysregulated nervous system resulting in ill physical or mental health.

It’s a collaboration; we do this together, in partnership, and it's a process, not a quick fix.

It's an-depth process of learning about yourself, understanding more about your body and the interconnected relationship with your body and mind.

It's a safe therapeutic space to explore what has been stored and lives in the body, based on the well-developed understanding in the field of psychology that the body and mind are deeply connected, and that stored trauma, stress, unresolved emotional and psychological tension can manifest as physical or mental illness, chronic pain or illness in the body.

Through the integration of elements of mindfulness, yoga, somatic movement, breathwork, and touch; this form of somatic therapy can help you process and release deep layers of tension and emotion, move stuck energy, change unhelpful default patterns, and facilitate emotional release.

I ask you commit to a minimum of eight sessions to begin with, following an initial intake session to understand your history and current presentation, and to start to understand how we might work together in this therapeutic process. Sessions can be held weekly or bi-weekly.

Cost per session: £65 per hour / £75

Initial Intake Session: £75 for 75 minutes

“Marie has an incredible healing talent. She has helped me and given me tools to release deeply blocked emotions and taught me breathing and relaxation techniques which have allowed me to calm my nervous system and improve the quality of my day-to-day life.”
